In the midst of the ongoing pandemic, the Medan State Polytechnic (Polmed) held the 36th graduation offline and online by inaugurating 1,925 graduates of the 2020/2021 Academic Year on Tuesday and Wednesday, 26-27/10 in the Polmed Directorate Building Hall.
Director of Polmed, Abdul Rahman, S.E., Ak., M.Si said, “although the graduation procession this time can’t be done face-to-face in its entirety, hopefully it doesn’t reduce our sincere intention to give awards and expressions of joy for the scientific achievements of the graduates”.
The Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution, who also attended the graduation procession this time, felt proud to be present in the midst of younger siblings who got cum laude achievements. “For all the graduates who have completed their education, continue to be enthusiastic and observant in seeing the potential and opportunities in the outside world, also don’t forget to continue to serve your parents,” said the Mayor of Medan.
The Director of Polmed also added, “The Academic Year 2020/2021 Medan State Polytechnic presented as many as 1,925 graduates consisting of 302 graduates of Applied Bachelors and 1,623 graduates of Associate Experts. Among the graduates who graduated in this period, there were 360 graduates who had the best achievements with the Predicate With Praise (Cumlaude)”.
Still in his speech, Abdul Rahman also hoped that “Nowadays, industry and the world of work no longer only need graduates with diplomas, but also certificates of competence in all fields.
To strengthen the competitiveness of alumni in entering the world of work, in addition to a diploma, POLMED graduates will get a competency certificate according to the scheme/field of expertise/competence that exists in each study program that is followed and declared competent in the competency test”.
